Kakanin Festival

MAITUM, Sarangani (November 23, 2009) – Kakanin Festival is celebrated by barangay Malalag (poblacion) every 3rd month of November. The Kakanin Festival is focused on different kakanin made of rice such as puto, tinudok, suman, tinagtag, patupat, sapin-sapin, espasol, and other kakanin. Maitum is the biggest rice-producing municipality in Sarangani. The 7th Kakanin Festival’s highlight is the kakanin contest participated in by the eight puroks of the barangay.
