PRO-13 Attrition Hiring Reduced to only 70

Butuan – The Police Regional Office 13 is accepting applicants for Police Officer 1 (PO1) recruitment at Camp Rafael Rodriguez, Libertad, this city.

But there would only be 70 new police officers to be hired in this year’s last quarter Attrition Hiring as compared to 190 in 2008 as few police personnel have retired or dismissed from the service in the region for the current year.

Police Regional Director Lino Calingasan explained, the recruitment of new PO1 is part of regular recruitment program of the PNP to fill–up the vacancies resulting from the attrition of Police Non Commissioned Officers (PNCOs) who were separated, died, retired, dropped from rolls and dismissed PNP Personnel.
“But the PNP has been preparing for a much bigger quota in 2010 and we are targeting a maximum number of 10,000 police recruits once approved by the senate,” said Police Chief Supt. Calingasan.

For those who will not be hired under the Attrition Hiring will still be eligible to apply in 2010 based on the usual process provided that the applicant will pass the required tests.

Police RD Calingasan is confident; Caraga Region will be given a much bigger quota in 2010 once the PNP has ordered recruitment of 10,000 new PO1 positions.

PRO 13 is now starting to facilitate new police applicants with the following qualifications:

• a citizen of the Philippines
• a person of good moral character
• must have passed the psychiatric/psychological, medical, dental and drug test to be administered by the PNP Health Service
• Must posses formal baccalaureate degree from a recognized learning institution
• Must be legible in accordance with the standards set by the commission
• Must not have been dishonorably discharged from military employment or an AWOL or dropped from rolls of the PNP service or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government.
• Must have no pending criminal case in any court, including at the Office of the Ombudsman or administrative case if he/she is already an employee of the government
• Must not have been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude.
• Must at least 1.62m in height for male and 1.57m for female.
• Must weight not more or less than 5 kg from the standard weight corresponding to his/her height, age and sex.
• Must be not less than 21 nor more than 30 years of age

The appropriate eligibilities for Police Officer 1 are the following:

• NAPOLCOM PNP Entrance Examination
• RA No. 6506 (licensed criminologist)
• RA No. 1080 (Bar and Board examinations of Baccalaureate degree)
• PD No. 907 ( Granting Civil Service Eligibility to College Honor Graduates)
• Civil Service Professional Examination

All qualified applicants will begin taking a series of examinations and physical agility tests on October 22, 2009.
Police RD Calingasan likewise announced the schedule of simultaneous oath-taking of the new recruits which is tentatively set on the first week of January 2010 and they will be turned over immediately to Lipata Training Center in Surigao for the regular PNP Field Training Program (FTP) for the next 12 months.
