DSWD allots P14-M to pilot anti-poverty project in two Agusan del Sur towns

BUTUAN CITY- The Department of Social Welfare and Development Caraga Regional office today announces it allotted P14-M to fund pilot projects under the “Ahon Pamilya Pinoy” Program in two municipalities of Agusan del Sur.

DSWD Caraga Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat said the municipalities of Sibagat and Esperenza were chosen as pilot areas in the implementation of the “Ahon Pamilya Pinoy” Program, a pet anti-poverty program of the Arroyo administration where identified beneficiary families are given cash money subsidies monthly to alleviate their standard of living. Dinagat Governor confiscates P300-T worth of hot lumbers

SURIGAO CITY- Dinagat Islands Governor Geraldine “Jade” Villaroman ordered confiscation of more than 3, 300 board feet of illegally cut lumbers composed of endangered hard wood species like “Magkono” or “iron wood”, yakal, red lawaan, doyok-doyok in Barangay Boa, Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands on Sunday, Dinagat Provincial Information Office said.

Earlier, the lady governor and her family claimed they were getting death threats as they launched intensified anti-log poaching campaign in the island province groomed to be an “eco-tourism center” in Caraga Region. Read more
