Great day at the beach
Today, I took my wife and kids to the beach (along with a friend and his family) in Santa Maria, Davao del Sur. It’s really a great place to go, almost nobody on the beach, clean water, clean sand, just beautiful.
I was walking down the beach taking some pictures. I was in the water as I walked, maybe 2 feet into the water, just enjoying my stroll. Soon, I looked down, and within a foot or so of my feet this is what I saw:

It’s a Sea Krait, a type of sea snake. I didn’t know what it was exactly, except that it was a snake. I certainly moved out of the water quickly, though. When I got home and looked on the internet to see exactly what this was, I found it on the Dive Gallery Website. Here is what they said:
known to have venom ten times as strong as rattlesnake venom, making them among the most potentially dangerous of all animals. Fortunately for divers, they have short fangs and are usually quite docile
Wow! Ten times as strong as rattlesnake venom? Among the most potentially dangerous of all animals? Glad I moved out of the water!

Hi Raquel – you know I was thinking about that the other day, if I would have been unlucky I might have died just ahead of Steve Irwin, and in a similar style! We are the same age too. Yikes!
Yes Bob u’re right that animals make this world interesting for the world is incomplete
without them. The thing is we need extra care and be alert at all times like what you did. Most especially
to the snakes and all other snakes behind, beside, or just in front of us (idiomatically).
To joel, yes they are deadly as to what had happened to Sir Steve Irwin. He was attacked by a stingray
and was hit on the chest like that of a bayonet. After all this is a wild world…
But at least it’s always exciting, Joel! Snakes and the other creatures just keep it interesting!
thats why sometimes i dont like swimming in the beach hehehe water creatures tend to be more deadlier..
Hi Titania – nice to hear from you, it’s been a long time. Glad to know you are enjoying the blog!
Wow, what a shock, and I’m glad you looked up and saw that snake just in time! I enjoy your comments on your website, Bob — thanks!
