AFP, PNP won’t allow bad elements to steal joys of Christmas

Tacloban City (December 23) –- The Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines will not allow any bad elements to steal the joys and cheers of Christmas. Thus, they assure the public that security measures are in place and that the communities will be shielded from attacks.

The reassurance comes in the light of reports that the New People’s Army rebels will not observe a Christmas ceasefire with government forces for the first time since 2000.

Earlier, the Philippine National Police has detailed Santa Cops in the various malls in order to protect the shopping public from any bad elements who usually take advantage of the busy season to sow havoc and to harm the public.

In Manila, Director Vidal Querol, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office said the police is prepared to defend the cities against any possible rebel attacks.

In the Region, General Bonifacio Ramos of the 8ID declared that the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines will always be ready to defend the rights of the citizens in the Region. Most of the soldiers assigned in the Region are from other regions and yet they make a great sacrifice of not being able to be one with their families just so the people of Region 8 would be protected. For them, the call of duty will always come first before anything else.

The same is echoed by Philippine National Police Region 8 director Eliseo dela Paz who said that the policemen in the Region will see to it that peace and order is maintained and that the rule of law is followed and observed. He has already ordered the various PNP stations in the Region to detail Santa Cops in the crowded places and malls so as to be able to protect the people from bad elements and would be law offenders.

Indeed, the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines must not only be congratulated but must be commended by seeing to it that unlawful elements will not steal the joys and cheers of Christmas away from any citizen of this Republic. (PIA)
