Mindanao Blog reader Al Jacinto had an interesting picture in the SunStar Zamboanga today:

Saved by the kevlar helmet!
Pfc. Gilbert dela Cruz of the Philippine Marines shows his kevlar helmet to his commander Lt. Col. Bajunaid Abid. The helmet saved Dela Cruz’s life after he was shot by an Abu Sayyaf sniper in the southern island of Jolo. (Sunnex photo/Al Jacinto)

the soldier is really lucky, his second life huh! that’s the reward for having a genuine kevlar helmet. I remember several years ago that the marines nearly had a coup in Manila because they found out that many of their kevlar helmets were fake. Spare the soldiers from corruption damn it!
