White House
The White House – This is where Aragoncillo worked and allegedly stole secret documents

The news has been in the headlines for over a month here in the Philippines. I don’t know why it took so long to finally break in to the headlines in the USA, but yesterday ABC News splashed the news scene with it’s story of Spying in the White House. Why has it been in the Philippine news for so long already? Because the spy is a Filipino who had already become a naturalized US Citizen. And who was he spying for? The Philippine political opposition!

Aragoncillo
Former US Marine, Alleged Spy Leandro Aragoncillo

That’s right, it seems that whenever there is an espionage case, it is usually one government who is spying on another government, but not in this case. In this case, Leandro Aragoncillo was engaged in espionage against the United States of America, and he was working for a bunch of political thugs in the Philippines. Already, there have been admissions from Senator Panfilo Lacson, Senator Pimentel, Ex-President Estrada and others that they received information from Michael Ray Aquino, who was their agent and was apparently paying Aragoncillo. What did the political thugs hope to gain? Negative information about President Arroyo and her administration. More than 100 classified documents were stolen from FBI files by Aragoncillo, who passed them on to Aquino. Aquino then e-mailed the information to opposition politicians in the Philippines. With the theft of the documents happening at the beginning of 2005, did you notice that President Arroyo fell into political problems around mid-year? It is funny how the timing worked out. There was just enough time to steal the information, analyze it and then stir up trouble for the President so they could try to oust her and take control of the government themselves. Very interesting! Actually, it’s fascinating.

Aquino
Alleged Espionage Cohort, Michael Ray Aquino

Where do things stand now? Here in the Philippines, President Arroyo is still struggling to get out of the troubles that the opposition has put her in. It seems that every day is a fight about her legitimacy instead of getting the work done that is needed to help the Filipino people. As a matter of fact, I don’t see where the government is really getting anything done these days. On the other side of the ocean, in the States, it seems that the scandal has hit the big media now, and you can bet that Aquino and Aragoncillo are in deep trouble over this. The USA is even talking about wanting to extradite opposition politicians here who were involved in the scandal.

My prediction about this whole affair: it is only getting started.

I think Arroyo is a liar and a cheat. The “Spy” in the White House is a hero for trying to help get rid of Arroyo – she should already be gone. How convenient that Arroyo’s opponent died right after the election that he was cheated out of; what a way to secure her “victory”.

From afar this is all very fascinating.

My sis-in-law though as a successful businesswoman is not happy with all of this. I am sure she tries to stear clear from it all as much as possible but all this turmoil is not good.

    Oh Sayang.

Mr. Chase, well, I would be the first to say that America is not heaven. But, it is a pretty good place to be, though. For me, anyway. Of course, everybody has their own opinion.

My opinion is that you are wrong when you say that America has betrayed the Philippines. The United States has always been there when the Philippines needed anything. A year does not pass by when the USA is not sending money and other types of AID to the Philippines. And, you don’t hear them complaining about it. Are there strings attached to the AID? Of course. Nothing in life is free, and Uncle Sam expects things in return for issuing that AID. For those who don’t want the strings, just don’t accept any AID, right?

If there is heaven on earth, America is. Sure, America is not perfect but close. The richest country in the world, the brightest people in the world ( alot of stupid ones too). The most generous people in the world. America is always anywhere in the world when calamity strikes to give a helping hand yet too many are ungrateful. For those who wants to destroy America, I say, screw you. The best is yet to come for America. The land of the free and the home of the brave.

    Hello Atty. Agaton,

Thank you for visiting my site! Also, thank you for your service to the United States of America. Even though only a few people may recognize and openly appreciate your service, you can bet that you are appreciated by many.

I think that any of us would admit that the USA is not perfect, but it is also the ideal that many other countries strive for when it comes to freedom for it’s people, quality living and many other things.

Thanks again! Come back and visit again!

I had served in the U>S> military for 20 years and very proud of it. America has become my motherland and I will never betray this country for it has given me so much. Though I’m retired, I will still serve this country with all my might when time comes that my services will be needed. When all the dots are connected, these bastards will dearly pay for it and all those animals in Manila included. This is obviously an open and shut case… no doubt.

  17. Bob on October 8th, 2005 1:15 am

For me, a life sentance would be light. Throw the book at them both. Aragoncillo should be stripped of his citizenship, which he obviously did not take too seriously anyway.
