NPA Rebels

With the President and seemingly all political leaders in the country mired deeply in political fights, the NPA has vowed to engage in more military attacks against government troops. NPA spokesmen say that they want to “add military pressure” to the already mounting problems that the country is facing, especially the President.

The NDF, political arm of the NPA and other rebel groups says that President Arroyo’s hold on power is on the brink of collapse, which is why they want to increase military operations to hasten that collapse.

In recent weeks, NPA operations in Mindanao have increased in frequency. Recently, operations have been conducted around twice per day, whereas in the past military skirmishes happened only a couple times per month or so.
