Arnis escrima holds another tournament

Davao City (23 September) — A regional arnis tournament will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the NCCC Mall of Davao along the corners of Matina and Maa, this city.

This was announced by Arnis Philippines Commissioner for Davao City Mario C. Palazuelo Thursday during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) forum at the Tower Inn.

Dubbed as the 2nd Carambunal sa Davao 2005, the latest tournament is being organized by the Kapatirang Doble Olisi Escrima in coordination with the Davao City Sports Council and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

The event aims to exhibit the talents of practitioners of the art, according to Palazuelo.

“Not only will this tournament give the players the chance to show off their abilities but will also let them and their teams test their mettle against different arnis style in Mindanao“, Palazuelo added.

The Arnis Philippines commissioner for Davao also holds the title of Punong Guro in arnis escrima. Palazuelo is the Mindanao champion for Arnis in the heavyweight division. (PIA-SP)
